Halifax Men’s Golf Association
The Halifax Plantation Men’s Golf Association (HPMGA) is a not-for-profit social organization open to all members of Halifax Plantation Golf Club. The HPMGA supports and promotes a quality competitive golfing experience, while insuring a congenial social experience for all Members. Its purpose is to promote interest in the game of golf within the community and provide a forum for golfers to test their skills in competitive and fun formats.
The HPMGA plays weekly, teeing off in a shotgun start at 9:00 am each Tuesday. A variety of formats are provided to keep games interesting and challenging. There are special events included in the calendar such as HPMGA Championship, Ryder Cup, Presidents’ Cup, and the Santa Claus Special. Generally, the events are handicapped or flighted, so anyone with an interest in golf is welcome in the association, regardless of handicap. All that is required is a desire to play the game and have fun.
Each week, prize money is awarded to about 40% of the golfers or the winning teams, depending on the event. Most weeks “Skins” and “Closest to the Pin” events are held at a minimal cost for those with a competitive spirit. Participation is voluntary. To promote camaraderie, the HPMGA encourages members to stop in the Pub for free beer or soda after the round the first Tuesday of each month.
Membership in the HPMGA is open to all members of Halifax Plantation Golf Club. Players of all skill levels are welcome. To apply for membership, complete the application form and drop it off at the Pro Shop. Alternately, call the Halifax Plantation Pro Shop at 386-676- 9600, leave a message, and someone will return your call.
To participate in the HPMGA, you must contact the Pro Shop and sign up for the GHIN Handicap System to establish a handicap for HPMGA play. A nominal fee is charged by the golf club for use of the system.
